台維斯盃 費德勒關鍵單打勝

雖然瑞士推出奧運雙打金牌組合失靈，但Roger Federer 與Stanislas Wawrinka發揮單打實力，擒下最後兩點單打，以3-2擊退哈薩克晉級四強。

瑞士隊史還沒拿過台維斯盃冠軍，曾在1992年打進決賽，最後敗給美國居亞軍，為目前隊史最佳成績，且自2003年後就再也沒進過四強。

Federer與Wawrinka曾在2008年北京奧運男雙摘金，第三點雙打卻爆冷吞敗，瑞士在1-2落後下，先由Wawrinka憑藉單場25記ACE，以6-7(4)、6-4、6-4、6-4擊敗Mikhail Kukushkin追成2-2，關鍵的第五點單打，Federer以7-6（0）、6-2、6-3橫掃Andrey Golubev。

過往Federer對台維斯盃冠軍不太積極，但想在退休前試著拿到奧運金牌與台維斯盃冠軍的他，今年讓瑞士有大好機會，他們是八強隊伍中唯一擁有兩名世界單打排名前10的隊伍。

「這是一個漫長的週末。」Federer賽後表示，拿到勝利取得晉級，感到非常欣慰，也相當開心，他目前是瑞士隊史在台維斯盃單打最多勝選手，拿下34勝7敗。

有Andy Murray在陣的英國，終究未能實現1981年後再度晉級四強的希望，以2-3不敵義大利，瑞士下一輪對手就是義大利。

捷克以5-0橫掃日本率先搶進四強，並將與法國爭搶決賽門票，後者以3-2擊敗德國。
