刀鋒戰士槍殺女友案引起全球注目，法官認為他謀殺罪證據不足，令人想起20年前轟動一時的前職業美式足球明星辛普森殺妻案的世紀大審判。

1994年6月12日深夜，辛普森妻子妮可和餐廳服務生高曼陳屍妮可的住處外。案發當晚黃昏，妮可和孩子到高曼服務的餐廳吃飯。她後來打電話到餐廳說，太陽眼鏡忘了拿，高曼找到之後告訴同事，下班後要送還給妮可。

辛普森被控謀殺兩人，案發後一直待在友人家。他17日開車被警方追逐後就逮，電視台為轉播追逐過程，不惜中斷NBA總決賽的直播。

辛普森雖未因殺妻坐牢，卻在2007年9月帶人闖入拉斯維加斯一家酒店及賭場的房間，持槍搶走自稱屬於他的運動紀念品，2008年12月5日被判33年徒刑，但九年後(2017年)可申請假釋。他目前在內華達州拉夫洛克監獄服刑。
