Richwave looks to 30% increase in Wi-Fi component revenues in 2014

Mavis Hong, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Wednesday 7 May 2014]

RF component maker Richwave expects sales of its Wi-Fi components to grow over 30% on year in 2014, buoyed by growing demand for 802.11ac-enabled devices.

Richwave's products, which also include power amplifiers, T/R switches and RF front-end modules, have entered platform solutions from Qualcomm, Broadcom, MediaTek, Spreadtrum Communications and Realtek Semiconductor, the company noted.

Richwave, of which IC design house Richtek Technology holds a 6% stake, has entered development of front-end components for 3G/4G LTE smartphones, with related products to be launched at the end of 2014, revealed the company.

Richwave posted revenues of NT$1.11 billion (US$36.86 million) in 2013, up 27% from a year earlier. Net profits reached NT$14.57 million or NT$0.37 per share in 2013. For the first quarter of 2014, revenues amounted to NT$325 million, increasing 43.1% on year, according to the company.
