顏淵接下來請問其目:子曰"非禮勿視，非禮勿聽，非禮勿言，非禮勿動"簡言之言行舉止合乎理，不踰矩，這是多難的修為，絕非一日可以達成。而如果真能克制慾望，不說不該說的話，不做不該做的事，不看不該看的，不聽不該聽的，這是多麼值得稱讚的人。如果在高位的，是多麼讓人景仰，風行草偃，天下歸仁。

所以"一日"不是說勉強做一天，而是天天累積而成。就如國手不是鍛鍊一天，而是天天鍛鍊，而一日終成為國手。

有句話禮教殺人，所以禮，理也。
