台鐵局呼籲：勿闖越平交道

101年1月17日台鐵278次太魯閣號列車行經埔心車站，因砂石車搶越平交道，造成駕駛機車長殉職，列車車頭全毀，損失達2億3570萬元。台鐵局向日本原製造廠訂購的全新車頭，經18個月重新打造，將於8月28日運抵台灣組裝測試，預計明年4月投入營運。

台鐵局也呼籲車輛駕駛人、行人遵守交通規則，警鈴響起時不搶越平交道，保持平交道安全淨空；平交道前停、看、聽，與前車保持安全距離。此外，若有車輛在平交道上拋錨或發現有其他障礙物時，要迅速按下平交道旁紅色的「緊急按鈕」，以避免發生重大傷害事故。
