湯森路透根據已經取得專利的科技發明，預測2025年普及的10項科技發展，包括取得小型電動飛機執照可能變得像成年後考駕照一樣普遍。輕航空工程和電池科技的發展使得小型電動飛機可在範圍比目前飛機小很多的區域起降，因此考飛行執照的難度下降許多。
