小熊與紅襪系列賽第2戰，紅襪全場敲出8安，獲5次保送，其中老爹David Ortiz靠著馳騁球場多年的敏銳度，此役連2個打席，都選到了四壞球保送，更在第7局未打先猜，看穿小熊後援投手Neil Ramirez的球路，逕自解除打擊動作，老爹頭也不回地離開本壘板，豪邁地走上1壘。不過這一戰，紅襪打線還是超悶，終場以1比2含恨輸球。

5局下，老爹在隊友Dustin Pedroia敲安、攻下全隊唯一1分後上場打擊，與先發投手Edwin Jackson纏鬥6球，老爹選到四壞球保送，紅襪堆成滿壘，可是Jackson讓接著打擊的Mike Napoli敲出內野滾地球遭刺殺，紅襪無功而返。

7局下，Ramirez面對老爹，先是連投3球壞球，接著擺好姿勢，準備投出第4球，未料手出去的那一刻，老爹看都沒看，一眼未眨，球還沒進來就知道自己獲保送，成為了先知，逕自走上一壘。

事實上，仔細研究前3球，可以發現Ramirez都投出超外角的壞球，估計是想避開這位紅襪重砲，也許老爹沒有千里眼、讀心術，只是恰巧猜中Ramirez的戰術，決定速戰速決，自己走上一壘。

這並非老爹第一次這麼做，前一回他這樣走上壘包，還引起主審不滿，這次故技重施，想必又會引起一番爭議。

這一戰小熊靠著內野滾地球和犧牲打，跑回2分，險勝紅襪，小熊後援投手Pedro Strop拿下勝投，本季戰績1勝3敗，防禦率2.93。

另一方面，紅襪日籍終結者上原浩治在第9局登板上班，用20球，14球好球，被敲2安，送出1K，無保送，不過遭小熊Luis Valbuena攻下致勝分，上原吞下敗投，本季戰績3勝2敗，防禦率1.40。
