根據 Apple v.s. Samsung 一案中提出的 2006 Google Android 規格中，一開始 Android 並不支援觸控螢幕。

Apple v.s. Samsung 的專利戰正如火如荼地展開第二場戰役，而在法庭上新提出來的證據中，包含了 Google 內部在 2006 年，也就是 iPhone 出來前對於 Android 的描述。當時的 Android 基於 Linux 2.6 Kernel，採用 Java 平台，且不支援觸控螢幕。

「將不支援觸控螢幕，」Google 在文件中表示：「這個產品預定將具備實體按鍵，不過產品架構並未有妨礙未來支援觸控螢幕之處。」

該份文件也指出 Android 將使用 Microsoft 的 FAT 32 檔案系統，這後來造成了裝置開發商須為此和其他專利支付授權費用給 Microsoft 的問題。
