日本開始商業化開採頁岩石油

日本日本石油資源開發會社表示，該公司已從4月開始在秋田縣率先展開頁岩石油的商業化開採。目前位於秋田縣日立市的油、氣田每天生產石油約35公秉，並出售給經銷商。這與日本每年超過2億公秉的石油進口量相比，實屬九牛一毛。但此舉有助於累積專業技術，以利用這種新的能源。

頁岩石油原本不易開採，但美國石油業者近十年來採用「水壓斷裂法」新開採技術，反而獲利豐碩。

該公司預料，等到第三階段產量提高到每天1521公秉時，便能開始獲利。日立油田的頁岩油蘊藏量估計為5百萬桶(75萬5千公秉)。
